GEZİ'NİN HAYVANLARI

30 Mayıs günü  Gezi Parkındaki 100 yıllık ağaçların kesilmesini protesto  ederek başlayan çevreci eylemlere polis biber gazı ve ciltte yanığa neden olan kimyasal karıştırılmış tazyikli su ile müdahale etti.  Müdahale eylemlerin Istanbul’un birçok mahallesine ve  Ankara, İzmir gibi birçok şehire yayılmasına neden oldu. Istanbul ve diğer birçok şehirde yaşayan sokak hayvanları da polisin aşırı gaz ve kimyasallı su kullanmasından etkilendiler. Istanbul’da birçok özel veteriner kliniği kapılarını sokak hayvanlarına açtıklarını twitter aracılığı ile duyurdular. Çevreci göstericiler yaralanan, nefes darlığı geçiren sokak hayvanlarına da yardım ettiler. Onları olayların yaşandığı meydanlardan taşımaya çalıştılar. Yine de sırf Istanbul’da yüzlerce kuşun, onlarca köpek ve kedinin öldüğü tahmin ediliyor.  

Sehrin evsizleri canlılarının olan biten her felaketten en cok etilenenler olması yeni değildi ama ilk defa kendi canlarını kurtarırken onları da ayırdtetmeyen genc bir kuşakla karşılaşıyorlardı. Gezi eylemleri bu açıdan da yeni bir döneme girildiğine işaret ediyordu. 

ANIMALS OF GEZI  

The environmentalist  resistance movement which started  by protesting the cutting of hundred years old trees at Gezi Park was subject to a violent police intervention with use of tear gas and water containing a chemical that caused minor burn on the skin.   AS a result, the protest movement  spread  to many districts of Istanbul as well as other cities such as Ankara and Izmir.  Obviously stray animals  living on streets were also terribly affected by the police’s excessive and  disproportional use of tear gas and chemical water. Many veterinary clinics made announcements on twitter that they were ready to cure  injured strays.  Most activists helped animals that were wounded or had difficulty breathing because of the excessive use of gas. They tried to evacuate them from the areas where clashes took place.  Nevertheless,   hundreds of birds, tens of dogs and cats are estimated to be dead  only in Istanbul, let alone the other cities where the severity of the use of gas was not less.

It was not a new phenomenon that the homeless souls of the city was the ones that were most effected by any disaster but this was the first time that there was a new young generation that tried to rescue them as they tried to save their own selves. Gezi movement was a indicating the opening of a new era on this context too.
