6 Haziran günü, SHKD ile birlikte Tayakadın Köyü Ilköğretim Okulundaydık. Tayakadın köyü, belediyelerin köpekleri attıkları, şehrin kenarındaki köylerden biri. 300 öğrenciye, üç grup halinde yaptığımız, ve tam gün süren eğitim programında, sokak hayvanları ile ilgili bilgi verdik, hayvanlara karşı duyarlılık uyandırmaya çalıştık, hayvanların da acı çeken, korkan, sevinen canlılar olduklarını vurgulayarak onlara karşı merhametli davranmak gerektiğini anlattık.
SHKD yöneticisi veteriner hekim Murat Bekhan’ın “slide-show” eşliğinde interaktif olarak sunduğu programı çocuklar ilgi ve heyecanlı bir katılımla izlediler.
Programdan sonra Frito-Lay ve McDonalds firmalarının ikramlarınından sonra Ronald’in palyaço şovunu izleyerek eğlendiler.
Onlar için unutulmaz bir gün olduğunu umuyoruz. Bizim için de unutulmaz bir gündü. Oradan, çocuklardan çok şey öğrenmiş olarak geri döndük.

EDUCATION PROGRAM AT TAYAKADIN VILLAGE PRIMARY SCHOOL
On June 6, we were at Tayakadin Village for an education program. Tayakadin is a suburban village at the outskirts of Istanbul , a district where municipalities are dumping dogs. In the education program we made for 300 students, in three seperate groups, we taught them what stray animals are, tried to raise their sensitivity towards them, explained that animals have feelings of hunger, pain, thirst, fear just like human beings and asked them to be compassionate towards animals.
They joined the interactive educational program given by Vet Murat Bekhan with interest and joy.
After the program, Frito_Lay and Mc Donalds offered drinks and snacks to the children who also enjoyed watching Ronald’s clown show.
We think it was an unforgettable day for them as it was for us. We returned home from Tayakadin village having learned many things.
We are grateful to Turkan Hoca who invited us, to all the teachers of the school, to all the students who attended the program and to the directors of Frito-Lay and Mc Donalds who supported this program.
